Welcome to Literature Meets Fashion! My name is Lisandra Hidalgo and I am an educator whose passion is to study fashion history through English literature. I enjoy exploring historical events, beliefs, and social expectations of each class, gender, or race through books of authors who lived before us. In the same way, the fictional characters created by these authors can identify the “popular” fashion of that era based on the historical events that occurred within that century. With that being said, In today’s world everything we wear is old- fashioned and has been worn by billions of people who were here before us. My mission is to inform you of the social expectations of every century that has shaped the clothes and mentalities of today. I hope to inspire you to pick up a book and read, to shop sustainably, to look at others without judgment but most importantly to wear whatever makes you happy and not what is said to be in “fashion” based on the social expectations of today because true fashion never goes out of style.
