LISANDRA HIDALGO, THE WRITER
Welcome to Literature Meets Fashion!
Lisandra Hidalgo is an interdisciplinary teaching artist and cultural educator working at the intersection of literature, fashion history, and visual storytelling. She is the founder of Literature Meets Fashion®, a creative education platform that explores how clothing functions as text—communicating identity, power, and cultural values across the 16th through 21st centuries.
Her work draws from literary analysis, historical research, and material culture to create workshops, curricula, and visual projects for libraries, schools, and community institutions. Through both discussion-based and hands-on programming, she invites participants to read clothing as narrative and to translate texts into meaningful visual forms.
Lisandra is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Costume Studies at New York University (NYU), where her research focuses on fashion history, dress as communication, and interdisciplinary pedagogy. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education, with professional experience teaching multilingual and teen learners.
Her work has been facilitated in school, library, and community-based settings throughout New Jersey and New York City, with an emphasis on teen services, humanities-based arts education, and intergenerational learning.
Lisandra is available for workshops, talks, and collaborative programming with libraries, schools, and cultural institutions.
